CMFI Comment Letter on Rule 12b-1 Reforms

On November 19, 2010, the Coalition of Mutual Fund Investors (“CMFI”) submitted a comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), regarding its proposal to restructure Rule 12b-1 and the fees charged to mutual fund investors for sales, distribution, and related activities.

CMFI advocates that the SEC broaden its proposed framework for Rule 12b-1 to evaluate, in a more comprehensive manner, both broker-dealer compensation issues and the lack of transparency within third-party omnibus accounts.  CMFI also comments on a number of technical and operational issues regarding the SEC’s proposal, at least as currently drafted.

Thank you for your interest in CMFI.
